Services for electricity producers

You can sell electricity by:

• filling in the inquiry form to receive an offer;
• filling in the inquiry form to conclude an agreement.

We will provide you an offer within 5 working days.

If the conditions we offer suit you, we will conclude with you a green power purchase agreement.

Electricity can be sold by both natural persons and legal entities who have an electricity generation permit issued to a producer. Those who plan to obtain the permit in the future may conclude a power purchase agreement in advance.

The electricity generated by prosumers cannot be purchased. Prosumers can get back excess electricity generated during a specific hour when their generation is lower than consumption.

Flexible price is calculated by subtracting Ignitis margin from the day-ahead price in the Nord Pool power market in Lithuanian market area.

The shortest period for concluding a green power purchase agreement with a flexible price is 6 months, and the longest is 24 months.

Usually, this responsibility is assumed by the buyer – Ignitis, except in cases where a different agreement is made with the producer.

The price of the imbalance risks is already accounted for in the electricity purchase offer.

Yes. It is one of the most important criteria when determining electricity purchase price. You must also specify the start and the end of the sale and purchase of electricity if the generation sources have not been completed yet and/or operating.

When concluding both flexible price and fixed price power purchase agreements, the start of the purchase and sale of electricity shall be the first calendar day of the month, and the end shall be the last calendar day of the month.

Viable terms when concluding a power purchase agreement:

• with a flexible price: the shortest term is 6 months, and the longest term is 24 months.
• with a fixed price: the shortest term is 6 months, and the longest term may differ depending on the generation period. Ignitis employee will contact and inform you if the proposed term is viable.

Electricity purchase will start from the first calendar day of the month.

Please note. Green power purchase agreement must be concluded with the producer at 14 calendar days before the start of electricity purchase.

For example, if the agreement is concluded on 21 November, the earliest possible day of the purchase is 1 January. This term is determined in accordance with the requirements set by the transmission and distribution network operators as well as internal processes of Ignitis.

Yes. The fine will depend on the selected electricity purchase price plan (with a flexible or fixed price). Further details are provided in the standard green power purchase agreement. The costs related to use and administration of guarantees of origin are borne by Ignitis.

When purchasing electricity, Ignitis will pay each month a fixed fee per generated MWh to the producer for guarantees of origin.

It is very easy to acquire / use guarantees of origin:

1. conclude an agreement with AB “Litgrid”. You can use the provided instruction;
2. conclude a green power purchase agreement with Ignitis.

The main differences between the producer and prosumer:

1. Producer can sell the generated electricity to a supplier or in the energy markets. Prosumer supplies excess electricity generated to the network and uses that electricity when necessary by paying a fee for network use. The excess electricity generated can be used during the accumulation period, which starts on 1 April and continues for 2 years until 31 March. After the end of the accumulation period, the electricity that was not used by the prosumer will be purchased by the supplier that supplies the prosumer electricity under a concluded purchase and sale agreement.
2. The producer must have a permit to generate electricity issued by the National Energy Regulatory Council (NERC). Prosumer does not require such permit.
3. The permitted generation capacity of the producer (the maximum capacity that can be produced and supplied into the network) may be greater than the capacity of the consumption connection point. The prosumer cannot exceed the capacity of the consumption connection point.
   For example, the permitted generation capacity of the producer's solar power plant is 1,000 kW, and the consumption capacity is just 50 kW. In this case, the prosumer can only install a power plant that does not exceed 50 kW.
4. Producers pay 100% of network development costs, and prosumers only 50%.
